Hi Reader,
Let me tell you what I see all the time. Women in midlife are doing everything right from:
✔ Showing up to appointments
✔ Taking the supplements
✔ Following the protocols
✔ Trusting the process
And yet…
– Energy is still low
– Sleep is broken
– Weight won’t budge
– Mood feels off
– Brain fog lingers
They leave their appointments not relieved. I’ve personally heard these exact phrases more times than I can count maybe you have too?
“Your labs look normal.”
Yet something still feels "off."
Here’s the truth most women are never told which leads to years of confusion and struggle that is totally avoidable. The traditional medical system wasn’t built for this chapter of life. Yup, I said it. Not because doctors don’t care but because its not something taught in medical school and midlife requires a different lens.
How Most Women Try to Fix It
When something feels off, most women do one of two things:
1️⃣ They accept vague answers and push through
2️⃣ They start adding more from supplements to more detoxes, more appointments, more workouts
Both paths usually lead to the same place:
➡️ Overwhelm without resolution
Because without context, these tools don’t help. And without strategy, effort backfires. What’s missing isn’t discipline.
It’s advocacy.
Midlife bodies are changing how they respond to:
- food
- stress
- exercise
- hormones
- medication
- recovery
Yet most care models still look at these in isolation. That’s why knowing what to ask matters more than ever.
Questions to Ask Yourself First
Before choosing a provider, a clinic, or your next step, pause & ask:
- Am I solving for disease avoidance or optimizing energy, resilience, and quality of life?
- Do I want reactive care (traditional MD) or proactive guidance (a health coach)?
These answers should guide everything else.
If You’re Considering Concierge Medicine
Concierge care can be incredible when it’s aligned.
Before you sign up, ask:
- How many patients do you manage at once?
- How often will we actually connect?
- Do I have access outside scheduled visits?
- What’s included vs. extra?
- What testing is included, prioritized and what isn’t?
- Does this model match my goals?
Access alone isn’t the answer. Clarity is.
If You’re Exploring Optimization Clinics (Peptides, HRT, Longevity)
This is where informed questions matter most. Even with an MD behind the name, most traditional medical training does not include peptides or advanced hormone therapy.
Ask directly:
- What training do you have in peptides or HRT?
- How do you determine dosing and how often do you reassess?
- Where are your peptides sourced?
- Can you provide third-party testing and a COA (Certificate of Analysis)?
- How do you decide when to adjust, cycle, or stop?
This isn’t being difficult. It’s being intentional.
The Lab Conversation No One Is Having
Another phrase I hear constantly: “My labs are normal… but I don’t feel normal.”
Most office visits miss:
- early insulin resistance
- subtle hormone shifts
- inflammation patterns
- muscle and metabolic health
There are ways to look at labs that connect the dots between:
energy • sleep • mood • weight • brain fog • long-term health
I connect the dots with my coaching clients to remove guesswork and build a real wellness lifestyle strategy.
